Are ICC Mediators & Arbitrators Qualified?

The Institute for Christian Conciliation™ certification program has offered premier training and certification for over two decades, resulting in a network of current and qualified Certified Christian Conciliators™ and Candidates ready to serve as biblical mediators and Christian arbitrators.

All Certified Christian Conciliators™ and Candidates affirm and abide by the Statement of Faith, ICC Distinctives, the ICC Standard of Conduct for Christian Conciliation, and the ICC Rules of Procedure for Christian Conciliation. To remain active, CCC  maintain their certification annually with an updated pastor referral from their church; ongoing requirements for education and experience; and an annual compliance fee.

Each Certified Christian Conciliator™ (CCC) has successfully completed an extensive training program with the guidance of a seasoned mediator, and is approved by a Candidate Review Committee when their demonstrated skills and abilities are tested and strong.  They remain in good standing among a fellowship of certified biblical peacemakers who continue to serve God by serving others.

The foundational training program is approximately 150 hours of individual study and training, starting with a self-study course in personal peacemaking and peacemaking in the context of the church, and self study prerequisites for the conflict coaching, mediation, and advanced practicum training.  Required study includes: The Peacemaker (Sande) and Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands (Tripp).

Practicums are approximately 50 hours of live training courses which, before candidacy begins, includes a 2-day conflict coaching practicum, a two-day biblical mediation practicum and, sometime during candidacy, completion of a three-day Advanced Study course. All of the live practicum training courses are based upon case studies and involve extensive role-plays, which provide the conciliator with practical experience.  All practicums are taught by ICC Certified Christian Conciliators™ gifted in peacemaking training.

In addition to completing the above training study and events, the conciliator must complete a minimum of 50 hours of conciliation work under the direction and oversight of an Advisor, and an additional minimum of 5 cases. With committee approval and thorough review of all case reports and feedback, the conciliator is then certified as a Certified Christian Conciliator™. ICC Conciliators serve independently in their communities, churches, and organizations and are available to serve upon request when cases are submitted to the Institute for Christian Conciliation™.

Certified Christian Conciliators™ who serve on ICC administered cases are committed to the importance and calling of resolving conflict through biblical peacemaking principles and the life and teaching of Jesus Christ.  They include attorneys, pastors, businessmen and women, counselors, and other lay leaders in Christian churches.

For cases that require an understanding of legal issues, ICC Conciliator attorneys and judges have a broad range of legal and practical experience in areas ranging from commercial transactions, business matters, real estate, probate, employment law, intellectual property, personal injury, church and non-profit governance, marital and family issues, insurance, and construction.  In conciliation cases, they do not provide any legal advice or services.

We currently have approximately 175 Certified Christian Conciliators™ and Candidates serving throughout the United States and traveling to serve internationally.  When a case is submitted to ICC Peace, we nominate one or more ICC Conciliators who meet the legal and personal issues in the particular case, and provide their qualifications for review.  All parties must approve the mediators or arbitrators who will be serving them throughout the case.
